Summer storms have become the expected usuality over the past few days at Bellarmine University. Scholars are packing their poncho, umbrella, and raincoat to protect themselves from the impending storms as they quickly pace to their destinations.
Many scholars have, on average, a five to ten minute walk and this becomes a problem when thunder and lightning threaten the campus. Without the common efficiency of utilizing their radar apps on their phones, it becomes difficult for scholars to prepare for the storms. Bryce Dhom of Henderson County High School says that he packs his umbrella wherever he goes because you just never know when it is going to rain.
Local meteorologists are anticipating this stormy weather pattern to persist into the second and third weeks of July, when a slightly cooler than normal setup seems likely. The slight temperature change will definitely serve as partial relief in the middle of the scorching, July heat.
Regardless of the unfortunate heat and storms, GSP activities have not been hampered quite yet. However, faculty and scholars continue to face the odds for hopeful weather during times of outdoor events. Moreover, office staff prefers scholars to be mindful of the frequent lightning and overwhelming heat this summer. Campus Director, Jen Price, reminds scholars to hydrate their bodies with plenty of water and to avoid outdoor parameters when storms are approaching if at all possible.
